The Sun Sets on My First ‘Roid Week

(Apologies again for my tardiness…) Well, tonight brings to a close my first ‘Roid Week. It's been a lot of fun. Can't wait for the next week this autumn! Here are my final submissions:

Experimenting with ‘Roids

(Excuse my tardiness in posting this…) I am adventurous. I am cautious. Sometimes simultaneously. I love how Polaroid photography (and ‘Roid Week in particular) has brought out my more adventurous side—especially today when I broke out the pack of unopened Fade to Black that’s been sitting in my film drawer for a few months now. Not only did I have my first go with the film, but I also experimented with doing a dry peel with a shot. Oh the joy of giving into adventure!

I picked up another box of my old toys from my parents last night. I’d forgotten all about Roboforce. Thought it was the perfect model for my first attempt with Polaroid Fade to Black film. Why did I wait so long to discover how awesome F2B is?

I’d taken a similar shot of this abandoned state mental hospital before, but I wanted to get a shot of it with Fade2Black film. A moment after taking this, a safety officer from the current hospital building (to my back mind you) pulled up and said that I couldn’t photograph the abandoned building without written permission because of HIPPA Laws… I was done, so didn’t argue the point, but prohibiting a random person from photographing a building based on HIPPA is tenuous at best. Guess I should finally print out The Photographer’s Right.

Hump Day

Day 3 of ‘Roid Week is now officially in the books. I went shutter happy once again, but I was having too much fun to stop. Did happen to run into a minor roadblock with the SX-70 this evening as I went to take an awesome shot of my dad’s VW Bug: the photo wouldn’t eject. So when I got home, I transferred the remaining three frames to an empty pack and everything seems to be back to normal. Took a test shot, which turned out okay. Anxious to see how the remaining two turn out, because they were somewhat exposed to minimal light. Oh, the pola-ventures! That’s what ‘Roid Week is all about in my book…

Shutter Happy

Apparently ‘Roid Week is not only a time to share Polaroid photos, but a time to shoot them as well. After supper yesterday, I set off for a quick walk to a favorite spot in the woods with the intention of getting only one or two shots before driving into town. Almost two hours later I had eleven photos in my pocket. I then drove to get a shot of my favorite railroad bridge, but not finding an angle I was really happy with, continued on into Susquehanna Depot and shot another favorite subject instead—the old water tower. It’s probably a good thing the sun had set, otherwise I would have taken even more photos…

I am always impressed by the stoic nature of those trees that refuse to fall to the ground despite having been stripped bare of their bark long ago.

Pumped Up on 'Roids

Polaroid Week 2010 has begun. For this, my first 'Roid Week, I've decided to only submit photos taken this week. Although had I thought it through more, I could have saved back some photos from April (which turned out to be an almost exclusively Polaroid month in my 365 project.)

Four months and four days ago I placed my first order from The Impossible Project (PolaPremium at the time). I was addicted from the first "click...whrrr"! I'm hoping that 'Roid Week will push me to improve my photographic skills even more and helps me connect with more pola-peeps.

‘Roid Week N° 2: Lilacs in the I-Zone
A couple months ago I found an I-Zone camera hiding out in a desk draw at work. There was one frame left in the camera, which I decided to save ‘Roid Week. (I also happened to find an additional pack that I plan on using this week.)
